Q: What is Caterwaul exactly?
A: Although our first year was TECHNICALLY 2020, we did everything but have actual Caterwaul due to some pesky global pandemic. 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 are the years we have done so far. These were all in Minneapolis, MN this is the first one on the west coast and in Los Angeles.
Q: Is Caterwaul the same thing as Caterwaul West?
A: No… yes, but mostly no. Same family, same ethos, but not exactly the same.

Q: When is Caterwaul West 2026?
A: Caterwaul 2026 is Friday, September 4th through Saturday September 5th at Permanent Records Roadhouse in Los Angeles.

Q: Can my band play?
A: No, Caterwaul West 2026 is fully booked, we did not take submissions this year as it is the first of it’s kind. Assuming events happen in the future
Q: Why not?
A: Caterwaul is very carefully curated and scheduled by the organizers… this is why anybody cares about it at all. We didn’t build this on random submissions. It doesn’t mean that here aren’t wonderful bands out there that we don’t know about, but sifting through hundreds of submissions every year actually impedes us from putting the best Caterwaul on that we possibly can. We all are very active in music year-round, and we do understand that not taking submissions may seem elitist and/or lame. We just don’t have the resources to do it and give everybody a fair hearing. We also have to balance out new bands and returning favorites with a finite amount of slots. There are plenty of ways to get on our radar though.
